We’ve dusted off the blog and cleared out the tumbleweed for our newest edition of…

I’m so happy to be back with y’all this week! Thanks for hanging on while we trudged through the week where nothing went as planned. Y’all are the BEST and this lil’ piggy truly appreciated your words of encouragement and all of the fun piggy photos posted on Facebook! You’ll never know how much they brighten my world!

{break for a Happy Dance!}

I can hardly contain how happy I am to finally share a collection we designed for an adorable three year old named Gabriella. Gabriella is the youngest daughter of Maria of Love & Sugar Kisses. Maria shared that her strong minded baby girl wanted a pink piggy ballerina party! A piggy in a tutu is always a funny picture so the challenge was to make our lil’ piggy sweet and light on her hoofs. Introducing Tulip, the Ballerina

Maria and Gabriella fell in love with her! Maria created an adorable pink piggy ballerina party for Gabriella which you can see here. As a last minute surprise for Maria, I designed lil’ ballet shoes for her tablesetting. I loved the ballet shoes so much that I designed my lil’ {inspiration} backdrop to include 9 pairs of them!

I started with a pink paper plate backdrop and hung a “Happy Birthday” banner on pink gingham ribbon. The banner panels were attached with small binder clips embellished with sheer pink bows.

I envisioned the ballet shoes looking like a bunch of toe shoes hanging on a wall. To achieve this, I punched three holes on both sides of each shoe and laced sheer ribbon through them. Then I hung them from the ceiling so they rested on the backdrop.

The centerpiece was a small strawberry bundt cake from a local grocery store. The icing on the $3.99 cake and the cake’s shape reminded me of a fluffy tutu. I broke out my Silhouette and created a flower using the coordinating paper from the collection. I embellished the cake by attaching a bendy straw to the large pink brad used to attach the flower’s layers together. I trimmed the straw and inserted it into the side of the cake. I like to find easy and food safe ways to attach non-edible items to food.

Since the cake is much smaller than my cake stand, I created my own lil’ cake stand with a salad plate and upside down bowl. {Hank’s Hint}: Use poster putty to temporarily secure dishes to give them more stability.

Homemade Twirling Twirling Cupcakes were topped with Lil’ Party Tags, served in ruffled cupcake wrappers and displayed on a dollar store tray. For extra height, I placed the tray on an upside down mini casserole dish also from a dollar store.

Jelly jars were topped with coordinating cardstock and straws were embellished with Lil’ Party Tags. To make the jars easy to fill and refill, attach the edges of the cardstock lid to the jar ring with double-sided tape. It is an easy way to coordinate your drinking glasses to the color scheme and they help to limit the mess if they are knocked over. {Trust me. I’ve tested this on more than one occasion!}

We have started to include a “Create-Your-Own” Menu/Invitation with our collections. This is an affordable alternative if your budget doesn’t allow you to order the Personalized Invitation (shown at the beginning of this post).

I love creating lil’ party signs to display throughout the party space. They inform guests and often make them chuckle! Here are a few I created using the Party Cards as well as the Party Signs designed for the collection.

The Tulip, The Ballerina Collection is currently on sale in The Market for $20.00 through Sunday, April 1, 2012 {a 33% savings}.

  • Food & Beverage: $9.42
