ATTENTION RACE FANS! Start your engines…

In July, I shared the fun Stock Car Invitation we designed for Brittany of GreyGrey Designs here. I also shared our new Stock Car Favor Box here a few days later. Today I’m so excited to finally cross the finish line and share the rest of the items we designed for our new Stock Car Collection!

I have to admit that I had THE. BEST. TIME. putting together this lil’ buffet! Every time I would add an element I would let out a lil’ squeal! I think that’s what party planning and crafting should be…pure and childlike JOY! I was inspired by the hubs’ favorite toy as a little…Matchbox cars. He had allergies which kept him inside a lot so he would spend hours playing with his Matchbox cars.

I wanted to bring everything he imagined to life. Can you hear the fans cheering? The engines roaring? Feel the wind blowing the race flags wildly?

I started by adding the crowd page of the Coordinating Paper to my white paper plate backdrop. Then I strung the banner featuring 3D stock cars on bright blue grosgrain ribbon. If you keep the ribbon taut, the banner looks like a single raceway. To create the 3D stock cars, I added pop-up adhesive dots to the back of the car and placed it on the banner to look like a race was taking place.

TIP: If the banner won’t be seen from the back, add a piece of tape to the back of the seam between panels to keep the banner together.

I wanted to incorporate race flags so I designed an easy cardstock bunting using the colors of NASCAR. I attached flags to the top of the backdrop and hung more flags across the front of the table with mini clothespins and twine.

I kept the menu simple by including a few favorites that most of the littles I know love.

TIP: If you’d like to include a healthy item, swap the steak fries for “healthy” fries (aka carrot and celery sticks).

The nuggets and fries were served in checkered fry boxes lined with food safe paper and embellished with 3D stock cars. Sides of barbecue sauce and ketchup were served in little cups to reduce the mess. White platters and dishes were embellished with washi tape from an office supply store and a racetrack was made from the Coordinating Papers included in the collection.

Birthyear Tires (aka mini chocolate donuts) finished off the table along with one of our Stock Car Favor Boxes. I love how it’s crossing the finish line!

The Pit Crew Punch was served from my favorite galvanized beverage dispenser in washi tape embellished cups.

TIP: Look for universal items in the clearance section. I picked up the beverage dispenser below for $3.00 after Halloween last year. {Actually, I picked up TWO!} Once I removed the Halloween-themed insert tag (hidden below), it was a universal item for any party!

After the lil’ lunch buffet was over, the birthday cupcakes took over the raceway. Dairy and egg-free cupcakes were topped with coordinating gumballs and Lil’ Party Tags. The tags feature the birthday honoree’s name and age as well as 3D stock cars.

The Favor Tag was added to a box I made out of the checkered flag page from the Coordinating Paper.

To finish off the buffet, coordinating balloons were tied to a vintage gas can and placed next to the table. Our new KöH lamp—which looks like something you’d see at the racetrack—was the finishing touch to set the mood! Be sure to stop back tomorrow to find out more about the KöH lamp. It’s so much fun!
