{the market} cops and robbers collection

Back in July, I shared here the fun invitation we created for Jenny of Craft That Party in honor of her son’s birthday. We also designed a few Lego-inspired party decorations to tie in the birthday boy’s request for a Lego themed party. We loved the theme so much that we decided to create an entire collection!

I’ve also been inspired lately to create inspiration parties that can be pulled off on a tight timeframe. I’m amazed at how often clients purchase decorations from us the day before or day of their party! Here’s my take on a fun and whimsical birthday party using store bought items…

Inspired by cartoon capers and slapstick convicts, I punched blue circles from the Coordinating Paper and attached them to masks from the “Pin the Mask” Game for the top of my white paper plate backdrop. A stolen bank bag was spilling out Play Money which had been personalized with fun phrases as the robbers were making their getaway. The backdrop was finished off with a whimsical take on a classic birthday banner.

A simple white cake was embellished with coordinating gumballs, striped candle and a Type-Your-Own-Text Party Card attached to a lollipop stick. Doughnut holes were added to more lollipop sticks embellished with Lil’ Party Flags for quick “Cop Pops” because y’all know cops love doughnuts! {giggle}

TIP: If you can’t find mini candy bars, look for specials on the 10-packs of slightly larger bars. I snagged the 10-packs for less than $1 and wrapped them with the Coordinating Paper. I had less bars to wrap which saved time and paper. I also was able to buy “100 Grand” bars which went along with my theme!

TIP: If you’re serving cheese and crackers to littles, pre-cut the cheese with a cookie cutter. You can then stack them so it’s easier for lil’ fingers to grab!

Since I served a cake* instead of cupcakes, the Lil’ Party Tags which are often used as cupcake toppers were used to embellish the Police Punch glasses. Add a lil’ double-stick tape to the back of the tags and wrap some cute twine around to secure to the glasses. The double-stick tape is strong enough to stick but still easy enough to remove without residue!

I also didn’t have any black and white striped straws on hand so lids were created from the striped page of the Coordinating Paper. Add a plain white straw and Ta-Da!
