{the crew} introducing…mariah leeson!

I hope you’re having a great holiday weekend. We’ve been spending time with family this weekend at a Family Reunion. It’s been so much fun catching up with aunts, uncles and cousins, eating fantastic food and yummy desserts, playing games, sharing old stories and making new memories. I’ll share some of our fun photos soon but today I’d like to introduce you to another new member of the Piggy Bank Parties Crew!

Introducing Mariah Leeson of Giggles Galore

I first met Mariah when she submitted her Oink! contributing writer application on the last day we were accepting applications. Sometimes you find a gem in those last few hours…and Mariah is definitely one of them! She is an amazing writer, her blog is beautiful and she’s so creative! One of my favorite things she’s created recently is…

…a Tattle Monster! Click here to read all about the Murry, the Tattle Monster—it’s fantastic! Speaking of fantastic, Mariah shared a bit of her background with us…

“Born a natural social butterfly, I have always loved to plan and host parties. From holidays to birthday parties, I can find any excuse to throw a fabulous party! I believe details are what set ordinary events apart from extraordinary events, even in everyday life! Crafty by nature I am resourceful and bring an art of creativity and personalization to everything I do. When I’m not working as a PR and Social Media consultant, I can be found doing the things I love: planning parties, craft projects, my Cricut, reading, sewing and spending time with family and friends.I am the multi-tasking mom of three sweet and rambunctious kids, Aubrey (4) and twins Parker and Piper (2). I have been married for 9 years to Justin, my super supportive husband who often gets roped into lending a helping hand. We live happily in Allen, Texas where our house can be a little chaotic at times with lots of creative projects but there are always Giggles Galore!”

Mariah is a great addition to the Crew and here are a few more quirky facts about her…

Do you do this as a full- or part-time job or is it just for fun? This is a “just for fun” gig and I truly love doing it! Although I’d secretly love to make it more than just a hobby (opps, I guest the secret’s out.)

How did you get started? I’ve been planning and hosting parties for as long as I can remember. I was known for my annual Halloween parties in High School and I continued to plan events and parties through my involvement in various organizations in college. But, I guess you can say I really become addicted after my kids were born; now there are so many fun occasions to celebrate!

What is your favorite taste (salty, sweet, sour, tangy, etc.)? No question about it, I’m a sweet kinda girl!

Do you prefer cupcakes, cake or cookies at a birthday party? That’s a tough one (see previous answer) but right now I tend to incorporate cupcakes in all of my parties. They are easy to make, fun to decorate, less mess and easy to eat…especially for little ones.

What is your favorite decoration (streamers, balloons, poms, etc.)? One of my favorite things to use when decorating for parties is fabric. I use it to make banners, table runners, backdrops, games (like bean bags) and even outfits for the guest of honor. A little goes a long way and you can reuse it over and over again!

What is your favorite color combination? I’m drawn to anything with bright colors, and lately I’ve been using lots of red. But, if I were planning MY ideal party I’d use Gray, Aqua and Yellow.

What are your 3 favorite penny pinching tips?

  1. Reuse and Repurpose: Stop, before you throw it out can you reuse it? I save poms, fabric and Starbucks Frappuccino bottles and reuse and repurpose them to fit my current party theme.
  2. Keep it simple: You don’t have to buy extravagant decorations or have a huge spread of food to throw a great party. Focus on a few important details and make those the star of the party.
  3. Make an Investment: Doesn’t sound like a penny pinching tip, but it really is! I’ve invested in neutral serving platters, cake stands and glass containers, which get used at every single party I throw. By adding ribbon, patterned paper or fabric you can change the look of the party and in the long run save money.

Why did you want to join the Piggy Bank Parties Crew on Oink!? I’m a big fan of Piggy Bank Parties and jumped at the chance to join such a fabulous group! I love the fact that Piggy Bank Parties is commited to helping everyday moms (like me) throw extraordinary parties while keeping their budgets and stress intact. I’m so honored to be a part of this incredible crew and can’t wait to share my passion for parties with you!

LoVe that Mariah really “gets” what Piggy Bank Parties is all about and her penny pinching tips are some of my favorites, too! Besides her great tips, Mariah also shared FIVE favorite things that she has created…

Mariah’s parties are simply adorable and I can’t wait to throw a Camp S’more party of my very own! If you’re a new fan of Mariah, you can find her here…

  1. Mariah, I love Murray the tattle Monster! I wish I had one when I was teaching 4th grade. You wouild think that by 9 or 10 kids would have grown out of it, but by November they knew that tattling to me would get them no where! I always said “Talk to the hand, you know I hate tattling”! I’ll pass is on to my friends that are still teaching.
