Piggy Bank Parties received free product samples or compensation from Oriental Trading for purposes of this post, but the opinions are 100% all mine. Y’all know this lil’ piggy likes the truth…and nothin’ but the truth!
Last week I shared our recent “Happy Trails!” Farewell Party here.
I always like to plan at least one activity that coordinates with our party theme which both adults and kids will enjoy. My go-to store for craft activities is Oriental Trading. They offer a wide variety of inexpensive craft kits for all ages. I personally am partial to their paper plate craft kits and fell in love with the Paper Plate Horse Craft Kit.
Since this was our farewell party, I wanted to “corral” all of our guests in a close proximity in order to spend as much time with them as possible. The activity table was located right next to the buffet wall in our dining room. Bandana Party Lanterns from Oriental Trading framed the window and a ham-made “Horse Corral” sign hung from the chandelier. Red bandana inspired pages from the Happy Trails Paper served as craft mats on top of the cowhide flannel tablecloth. Each station included a horse head, muzzle and a bag of parts to assemble.
{Psst! The tablecloth was actually a shower curtain I made 12 years ago from fabric I picked up at Ikea. Repurpose and upcycle!}
Whenever I have a craft activity at an event, I create a sample of the finished product for our guests to use as a reference. Most of the foam pieces in the kit came with adhesive, but I found that the adhesive wasn’t very strong. My muzzle kept falling off so I added stronger scrapbook adhesive strips to most of the pieces in each kit and had additional adhesive available on the table for our guests to use. To keep the mess to a minimum, I opted to use adhesive dots and strips for the star’s sequins and feather horse hair instead of glue.
Even with the adhesive issues, I think Oriental Trading’s craft kits are fabulous! I love that all of the pieces are pre-cut, each kit includes directions and the finished product is adorable. The horses were a hit with everyone!
Since I have 10 kits left over after our farewell party, I thought it would be fun to give them away to one lucky fan!
I hope y’all have as much fun as we did! Enter below.
