{silly sunday} diy cake plates

It’s the end of the weekend and time for another edition of…

This lil’ piggy is thrilled to introduce you to one of her newest party pals, Dina of Deliciously Darling Events! Dina creates incredible events including the “Muppet Show Birthday” recently featured on Hostess with the Mostess. J and I had the pleasure of working with Dina for the first time on a “totally awesome” party which we’ll be sharing soon. Here’s a {sneak peek} of the cake from the party…

It’s always so exciting to see J’s artwork come to life in food and this is the first cake inspired by a logo he created! I hope you’ll stop by Dina’s Facebook page and tell her this lil’ piggy sent you!

Today, Dina is stopping by to share a quick and affordable tutorial perfect for your upcoming Independence Day celebrations!

I have used DIY cake plates in so many parties and the cute part is that you can use any plates you have.

All you need is:

  • Dollar store candle sticks
  • Floral adhesive
  • Plates (Star plates shown were less than $2 at Michaels Craft Stores)

Mold the tacky putty onto the candle stick and press onto the plate = instant cake or cookie plate.

You can even layer cake plates—just remember to secure with floral adhesive.

Best part is you can take it apart and have your plate back after the party!

Dina’s cake plates are adorable and one of my favorite tricks for displaying goodies at parties, too! In addition to candle sticks, I also use upside down bowls, ramekins, cups and glasses.

Thank you, Dina, for stoppin’ by today and sharin’ such a fun tutorial!
