Magic Trick Trunk or Treat Inspiration | Blog Hop
Piggy Bank Parties received free product samples from Oriental Trading for purposes of this post, but the opinions are 100% all mine.
If your fall weekends include at least one meal served on the tailgate of a truck and your favorite holiday is Halloween, you will fall in love with Trunk or Treating—the ultimate Halloween tailgate! No burgers, ribs or wings. Just the three Cs—Cars, Candy, and Costumes!
J and I were first introduced to trunk-or-treating 9 years ago when our church hosted it’s first annual Trunk or Treat in the church’s parking lot. Ever since that first chilly, Halloween night when we passed out over 800 pieces of candy to festively dressed youngsters, it has become one of our favorite family traditions. It’s truly MAGICAL!
What is trunk-or-treating? Fernanda Santos summed it up perfectly here:
“Trunk-or-treating is the latest twist on the quintessentially American ritual of door-to-door candy-collecting, bringing Halloween from the uncertain streets to the safety of church and school parking lots, turning the backs of minivans and sport utility vehicles into the new front porch.”
A SIMPLE FORMULA
If you’re not familiar with the trunk-or-treat concept, here’s my simple formula for creating the ultimate Halloween tailgate:
1. Start with the trunk of your automobile.
2. Attach themed decorations to your trunk.
3. Add a couple of HAMS in cute costumes.
4. Creatively pass out candy to costumed trick-or-treaters.
We love dreaming up creative candy dispensing experiences for the kids since we’ll hand out 500-1,000+ pieces during the event. We created a SLIDESHOW BELOW featuring one of our award-winning interactive trunk-or-treat themes:

This is so creative! I love the “stage lights” out front :)
