getting back to basics

Open your notebook and grab a pencil ‘cuz it’s…

I know I often say that I’m excited, thrilled, ecstatic and such about our new collections…but today is one of those extraordinary times when mere words cannot express my feelings. Today we’re launching a brand new product line that was created specifically with our company’s mission and our fans in mind.

At the beginning of 2013, J and I made the decision to get back to the basics this year. We love creating custom products for clients but we knew there was a huge piece missing from our shop. The basics. We also wanted to align the new products we’d be designing with our company’s mission, “To help you create fun and memorable parties on a piggy bank budget!”

Recently, I have been moved by comments we have received on our Free Downloads page like this one, “Thank you so much for helping me with my son´s party. It’s a difficult time at home…God bless you!” We know our fans and many others are struggling financially and throwing a big lavish party just isn’t in the budget. While we wish we could offer everything for free, we need to make a living in order to offer free downloads as often as we can.

We did the next best thing to free. We created a new line of printables—Piggy Bank Basics.

Each Piggy Bank Basics collection includes 5 basic items—Banner, Lil’ Party Tags, Favor Tags, Party Cards and Coordinating Paper. The basic items can be used to create food tents, small party signs, placecards, cupcake wrappers, water and soda bottle labels, candy bar wrappers, party hats, napkin rings, favor and snack boxes and so much more! We’ll also be providing more templates, downloads and tutorials here on Oink! to help you create party décor using the 5 basic items.

To keep the cost of the Piggy Bank Basics collections affordable, personalization and changes are not included. We’re happy to add on additional items and make changes, but there will be fees associated with each to cover our time and labor.

Want to know how much the collections will sell for?

$5.00! You heard right…FIVE DOLLARS! We already have 50 themes on our design list including princess, fireman, cupcakes, balloons, cowboy, cowgirl and robots as well as collections that will coordinate with your favorite commercial themes. We’ll also be creating collections for baby and bridal showers, anniversaries, retirements, family reunions and graduations. Are we finished? No! We’ll also be designing non-themed collections with different patterns and colors for all ages!

{break for a Happy Dance!}

Without further ado, I’d like to introduce the first collection in our new Piggy Bank Basics product line…

The Simply Hearts Collection is available in six colors. Over the next 5 days, the Piggy Bank Parties Crew will be sharing something they created with an item or two from each of the different colored collections. You won’t want to miss a day ‘cuz they are SIMPLY adorable!

Today I’m sharing a simple Valentine’s Party I created with the 5 basic items from the Purple version. Tip of the Day: I used freebies and templates available on our Free Downloads page to make all of the “extra” items not included in the collection.

First, I embellished our white paper plate backdrop with the “Happy Valentine’s Day!” banner and hearts I cut out of scrap cardstock leftover from another project.

For added backdrop drama, I made paper lanterns out of white printer paper, straws and twine. I embellished them with strips of paper from the collection. {I’ll share the tutorial soon!}

Lil’ Party Tags were added to wooden food stakes to make cupcake toppers. The cupcake wrappers were made with the collection’s plain paper and our free cupcake wrapper template.

I printed out the hot pink Solid Treat Boxes {free download}, embellished them with Lil’ Party Tags and filled them with grape-flavored Kool-Aid Candied Popcorn. Yes, I did say…Kool-Aid Candied Popcorn. Delish. I’ll share the details soon but you can snag the recipe here.

Using the collection’s patterned paper, I created water bottle labels and straw flags.

I added Favor Tags to the front of Lil’ Purse Favor Boxes made with the coordinating papers and free box template available here.

Pink napkins were dressed up with paper napkin rings made with the Simply Hearts Paper.

Not only are the collection’s papers versatile but the Party Cards are, too! Using Adobe Reader (free download here), I added my own text to create food labels and Thank You Notes.

I loved working with the purple version of the Simply Hearts Collection but adore all of the other colors as well!

The Simply Hearts Collection is now available in The Market for $5.00!

We hope you like our new back to basics approach and that you’ll share our affordable collections with those you know are struggling financially. If $5.00 is too much though, please pass on our Lots-O-Dots Collection which is available on our Free Downloads page.

I hope you’re inspired to get back to the basics!

  2. I think this is great! Part of my ‘Flair Philosophy’ is that no matter the expense or extent of planning, a party should make you feel good; celebrate life, love and happiness. This new party line reflects just that! I can’t wait to see the new items as they launch, especially the theme neutral and pattern rich elements. Congratulations to you and your husband!
